Domaine Pierrick Bouley
Volnay, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy
Organic & biodynamic (practising)
Pierrick took over from his parents, Réyane & Pascal, in 2014 and is the 6th generation of the family to run the estate. On a number of occasions we have heard them described as Lafarge like and there seemed to be a real buzz about this Domaine while we were in Burgundy. Pierrick is an exciting, rising star in Volnay and we were deeply impressed with his terrific range of wines.
The grapes are all destemmed and a small proportion of new oak is used. Low extraction and minimal SO2 is favored by Pierrick (with totals around 40mg/l) and the wines are unfiltered. They are classic and elegant with brilliant vibrancy and energy.
